Tyrosine

Tyrosine is a non-essential amino acid; in principle, the body can build it itself from phenylalanine, which must be supplied for this purpose from food.

Tyrosine is an important component of many proteins and also serves as the starting substance for many other important compounds, such as thyroxine, triiodothyronine, melanin, epinephrine, norepinephrine and dopamine.
