The invention relates to a method of treating or preventing drug addiction, particularly alcoholism, in humans, comprising administering to a subject in need thereof an effective amount of a Gly-T1 inhibitor, particularly N-methyl-N-[[(1R,2S)-1,2,3,4-tetrahydro-6-methoxy-1-phenyl-2-naphthalenyl]methylglycine or a pharmaceutically acceptable salt thereof.
